At the end of December one of our mail servers was hacked at used for a "spam run". This lead to some of our sites being blacklisted temporarily. As of 22nd January the last of these blocks has been lifted.

We did not realize as we were fixing this that some of the sites had been seeded with malicious code which was activated later.

This meant that the server was then used in a DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack on a major gaming website.

In consequence we have purged all of our website code, rebuilt the Linux servers and locked them down.

We have instituted an ongoing programme of security measures to prevent a re-occurrence of this kind of problem.
